Amrish Puri Birthday: Remembering ‘Mogambo’ On His 88th Birthday

Amrish Puri birthday is on June 22, a prominent personality in Indian theater and movies. He is best known for playing classic wicked parts and is the well-known good old villain back in those days.

Amrish Lal Puri had been raised in Nawanshahr, Punjab, to Lala Nihal Chand and Ved Kaur. Chaman Puri and Madan Puri (all these performers) were his older brothers.

Puri was one of Bollywood’s biggest popular antagonists, appearing in over 450 flicks throughout 1967 and 2005. The majority of them were a success. 

Some of his famous films were: “Tridev”, “Saudagar”, “Virasat”, “Damini”, “Koeka”, “Dalhalka” .He is famous as Mogambo in Shekhar Kapur’s Bollywood movie “Mr. India” (1987).

 He made  International  appearance as Mola Ram in Steven Spielberg’s Hollywood movie “Indiana Jones” and the “Temple of Doom” (1984).
